'WHAT IF A GROUP OF GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS GET TOGETHER AND DECIDE TO SOLVE A PROBLEM?
(IN LEEDS!)
So,our problem: LEEDS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN LOGO DOES NOT REPRESENT THE IDENTITY OF THE INSTITUTION.
The evidence/proof is...
-pilot survey of 50 people,pupils/staff. 84% said in their opinion the logo doesn't represent LCAD accurately
intended and colected Quantative Research:
-questionnaire of multiple choice
-collecting info from journals/internet/scans/photocopies/books
intended and collected Qualatitive Research:
-rank other Art Institution logos in order of preference
-'does logo represent LCAD?' tick sheet
- interview principle
-edited info collected about the logo subject
-collecting other Art Institution logo images

Carrying out surveys and questionnaires to gather both qualatitive and quantative primary evidence was extremeley helpful when tackling this kind of problem. The opinions of others in the first instance lead us to solving this problem. But so many other questions arise when researching, so carrying out these surveys/questionnaires allowed us to gather a bulk of info/opinions efficiently.
Using results from intial surveys then producing multiple choice questionnaires allowed us to gather yet more info plus statictics therefore we could produce summet a bit more visual in the way if graphs and charts.
I really understand now that you have to thoroughly research your subject matter then ideas just pop up! There really is no point in wittering on or creating work if you dont fully understand the subject/'thing'!
NOTE TO MYSELF: when constructing a survey/questionnaire to gather opinionated responses, take care to word the questions appropriately. (so as not to offend!)
